4 Google Tools For Small Businesses

February 13, 2019

The hardest part about having a business with a website is gaining the information you need to maximise you ROI. That information is also important for improving your content and aiming it towards the target market of your social media. In this blog, I’m going to be looking through a few different Google tools that are great for small businesses. I’ll be investigating what they are, what they do, how much they cost (if they do cost) and why they are good for you to use in your business and your marketing.

The first Google tool that is perhaps the most obvious is, Google Analytics.

Google Analytics is a free web analytics tool offered by Google to help analyse your website traffic.

Even though “web analytics” sounds like a very small area of your digital presence, the results you can gain from Google Analytics are huge. If you are running any marketing activities such as search ads or social media ads (which you should be), your users are most likely going to visit your website somewhere along the way.

The service is available to anyone with a Google account and a website. Google analytics measures data in 3 categories, Acquisition, Behaviour and Conversions. This helps you to make informed decisions when it comes targeting your audiences and choosing content to market

Google Analytics is what they call a “freemium” service, which means that small businesses can use it without paying the monthly charge, but if you want the more advanced features or the ability to do more with the service, there is a recurring fee.

The next tool to look into is Google My Business

Google My Business is an easy to use tool to manage your online presence across Google. It is essential to have a good GMB, if you want to appear in maps and in local listings.

GMB is a free marketing tool that drastically increases your chances of being found online, therefore generating you more revenue. Of course, just having a listing isn’t enough – it needs to be 100% complete and optimised in order to land near the top of the local listing results.

Since it doesn’t cost anything to use, you’re definitely missing out on a huge opportunity to gain more online exposure if you don’t have an account. Some of the benefits of using Google My Business can include; better search visibility, gain customer insights and it displays useful information about your business to searchers, among many more.

Google Trends is another great tool!

Google Trends is an online search tool that allows the user to see how often specific keywords, subjects and phrases have been searched over a specific period of time. It also analyses the popularity of top search trends.

Because Google trends is an online website, its free to use whenever you like. It is also great for SEO because it keeps you in the know about what your audience is searching for. This is so you can target your content in order to improver you SEO as much as possible.

Last but certainly not least, Google Ad-Words!

This tool is an online advertising platform developed by Google. It is a platform where advertisers pay to display brief advertisements, video content, product listings and service offerings within the Google ad network to web users.

Google Adwords is free in when it comes to the tools it has, such as making a campaign and making an account, and the keyword research features that they have to offer are also free, You can also use the re-marketing & tracking cookie for free. (This will help you build up audiences for your website). If you want to actually go live with an ad campaign then you’ll have to have budget to do so. The good part of that though is you only pay when people actually click on your ad.
